This was part of the loot I gathered over the festive period, duly painted during the same:
The demon idol diorama is based loosely on the art decorating the AD&D 1st Edition Players Handbook & depicts a group of player characters & their henchmen looting the shrine of some nameless demon god; the original artwork featured rather more prosaic orangey/ red flames but I wanted to try something a little more showy!
In the spirit of the original I've popped a couple of extra characters in there, the hooded assassin is another Otherworld miniature whilst the puzzled looking mage is an old Citadel Miniatures wizard from the same era as the aforementioned players handbook.
The resin base is another old piece produced by Torchlight.
SWEEEEEETTT!!! Terrific work! Someday I'm going to get back to work on my D&D dungeon...so many projects...so little time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mouse, you can never have too many projects.

Nice work. I bought this diorama awhile back and it has languished in the led pile. I have an idea to use led lighting effects, but no idea about how to actually do it. So I've put it off. Following your blog now. Looks like you've got some good stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sean, I considered the lighting option but gave it up as too fiddly. Really enjoyed this project but the demon idol did need a good scrub to get rid of the mould release agent.

This is very cool, HGA! Love the eyes of the big guy.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dean, the eyes are plastic gems supplied with the kit, I was going to replace them with the real thing but decided that was a step too far!
